Some of our future is already set...we have already finished our training (Discipleship Training School) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Argentina for 6 months & we are considered “staff” at the Bariloche, Argentina base.

We had already sold or given away most of our possessions in the US, downsizing from our house in Missoula to 8 large duffel bags!  But, when we arrived in Argentina, we were not able to communicate with the base, in Bariloche, where we had first committed. We had to complete our training at another base that was on the east coast (because it would better suit our family).

When we first arrived in Puerto Madryn, AR (our training base), we were two of six from the US.  Brad was wondering why God had brought us from a ministry that we didn’t want to leave in Montana, when his heart was still focused on reaching youth, especially in the US.  Why couldn’t God just use one of the other four from the US to do what He had brought us there to do.

We didn’t know exactly what our “job title” was going to be until we actually met face-to-face with the base director in Bariloche about 5 months after arriving to Argentina!  Needless to say...we had a crazy weight on our shoulders, knowing we had nothing in the US to return to, so if this wasn’t going to work out, what would we do next?  

As we talked with “Pato” (Patricia) in Bariloche, she asked us why we felt that God had called us to Bariloche...we said that our hearts had connected to the ministries that they already had in place.  She said, “No.  I think that you’re here for something bigger.  What has God been putting on your heart during DTS?”  Throughout DTS (Training), even though Brad was praying that God would take the skatepark/teencenter ministry that we were doing in Montana off our hearts and let us move into what He had for us in Argentina; God kept increasing this ministry in both our hearts.  Even giving us vision of what to look for as far as housing and a ministry center.  When we shared this with Pato, she started tearing up and said that they had been praying for six years for this base and every time they prayed together, God would put it on everyone’s heart that was praying that Bariloche would be won to Christ through skateboarding, snowboarding, bmx - extreme sports!  HOW CRAZY!    We never would of thought...South America?  Anyway...this is our future.  It’s a beautiful thing to know that you have listened and are EXACTLY right where God want’s you to be. Now, we are focused to bring relevant, relational youth ministry to a country that has very little to none!   Thanks for listening...enjoy God with us.
